Nissan's New Teana

PETALING JAYA: Nissan’s newly launched Teana is poised to make a strong challenge in the local Japanese executive sedan segment that is now dominated by the likes of Honda Accord and Toyota Camry,
Featuring modern styling, improved ride comfort and thoughtful interior appointments, the Teana promises owners  a new dimension of hospitality, comfort, quietness and roomy interior.
But perhaps the biggest surprises at the Tuesday morning launch were the prices, which begin from RM138K.

The Teana’s name is coined from the Native American word meaning "dawn," denoting the beginning of an all-new modern luxury sedan.

The current generation Teana’s luxurious appeal has won over many customers and is currently the best-selling vehicle in its class in China.
For the Malaysian market, the Teana will be sold with three engine options - the 136bhp 2.0- and 182bhp V6 2.5-litre that are assembled in Tan Chong Motor’s Serendah factory and the 252bhpV6 3.5-litre that is fully imported from Japan.
These engines are mated to Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission with adaptive shift control (ASC) for seamless gearshifting.

Standard items across the variants include engine start/stop button, dual-zone auto air-conditioning system, six-CD changer with six speakers audio and AUX-in and MP3 support, interior mood lighting, triple meter cluster with integrated Multi Information Display and audio/cruise control buttons on steering wheel.
Among the items reserved for the higher-end versions include powered front seats, Intelligent Key (i-Key), ventilated driver and front passenger seats, Ottoman-style legrest support for the front passenger and panoramic sunroof.
Meanwhile, safety features for all variants include dual front airbags, active front headrests, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.

The V6 2.5- and V6 3.5 grades will get additional vehicle dynamics control with traction control and Xenon headlights with auto leveler.
Available in Deep Amethyst Grey, Tungsten Silver, Sapphire Black, Chardonnay Gold and Brilliant White, the Pearl White, Bordeaux Red and Luna Blue are exclusive for the 3.5-litre V6 only.
The 2.0-litre Comfort variant comes at RM138,000 (on-the-road with insurance), the 2.0-litre Luxury at RM142,000, the 2.5-litre V6 Premium at RM168,000 and the Japanese fully-imported 3.5-litre V6 Exquisite at just below RM250,000.
All variants are also offered with a three-year or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty and Edaran Tan Chong Motor's confidence is reflected in the pre launch response.

"I am very happy to reveal that our showrooms across Malaysia have received bookings of more than 1,000 units for the all-new NIssan Teana," said Datuk Tan Heng CHew, executive deputy chairman of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd at the launch.
